SHOOTERS
SHOOTERS is a digital media training program for the formerly incarcerated, created and operated by Media in Neighborhoods Group. The goal of SHOOTERS is to increase employment opportunities and reduce recidivism tendencies for individuals through mentorship and technical training. Throughout their time in the SHOOTERS program, participants are paid for their time, and treated as working professionals in the creative economy. Filmmakers El Sawyer and Jon Kaufman direct the program, while filmmaker/producer Seven Halsema runs the day-to-day operations. Drawing on the rich tech/start-up culture and creative economy in Philadelphia, SHOOTERS connects returning citizens to industry professionals and mentors with the goal of developing longterm employability.
Each cohort member wrote and directed their own one-minute self portrait, while the rest of the cohort served as their production crew.

ABOUT
That person sitting next to you on the bus might be going through something inside. This is to magnify an element unnoticed by most. Deeply disturbing, way past the external, these scars are internal, often undiagnosed.
